"The Thrill" Tosses One-Hitter as Sox Roll
Will "The Thrill" Hill gave up just one hit and struck out eight Royals to give the Red Sox their first win of the season. Hill also contributed at the plate, hitting a two-run triple that gave the Red Sox the lead for good in the third inning. The Royals got an early run off Hill when C Riley Morse was hit with a pitch and came around to score on RHP Ozzie VanHendrick's single. The Red Sox offense exploded in the fourth inning. Another RBI from Hill, a hit from C Harper Cutler, and keen base running led to seven runs in the frame. Rookie Varek Tuma got his first RBI for the Red Sox as well. Royals SS Gordie Kalill continued to impress with the glove as he speared several hard hit balls. 2B Noah Perusse of the Red Sox also played strong defense.
