Speno, Gerard, and Forkin Push Pirates Past Mets
The Pirates got stellar efforts from players throughout their lineup en route to their seventh win. Aliza Speno went 2-4 with three runs scored and closed out the victory with a scoreless sixth inning on the mound. Speno relieved Nick Gerard who struck out 8 and allowed only three hits across 5 innings pitched. At the plate, Gerard went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Troy Forkin hit an inside-the-park home 3-run home run in the second inning. He later added an RBI double. First year players Matthew Worden and Brady Sparks each showed strong arms in the outfield. Evan Wright of the Mets hit a two-run double in the first inning and later hit a single. Landyn Cartee had a base hit and Dominic Johnson made another fine catch in right field. John Satterfield and Gabe Alexander each scored runs.
