A's Stay Undefeated with Win Over Mets
On a day when the Athletics' hitters were held to two hits, they were still able to win with a cadre of pitchers and keen base-running. A's pitchers Karson Elliott, Keagan Systo, Charlie Clark, and Brandon Weeks combined to allow just three hits and one run to the Mets. Weeks and Charlie O'Connell got the only base hits for the A's. Weeks scored two runs and stole two bases. Clark also scored twice and added a steal. Down 1-0 through three innings, the A's scored three in the fourth and four in the fifth to secure the victory. Systo scored a run and had an impressive stint at third base. The Mets got a solid start from Evan Wright who baffled the A's through three innings. The A's got to him in the fourth but he struck out 10 batters in his outing. John Satterfield scored the lone Mets run in the first inning when he was hit by a pitch and later came around to score. Satterfield added a base hit in the third. Wright and Nate Potter each had hits as well. Gabe Alexander impressed at the plate with a base hit and in the field with strong throws from shortstop.
