A's No-Hit Pirates; Weeks hits Grand Slam
The Athletics continued their undefeated 2018 season with another win on Saturday morning at the Brattleboro Little League Field. Led by pitchers Alex McClelland, Keagan Systo, and Thomas Bell, the Athletics no-hit the 2nd place Pirates and won 11-0. The A's did have to contend with several baserunners who were aboard via walks and hit by pitches but they played error-free defense to hold off the Bucs. Brandon Weeks provided the offensive power with a grand slam in the fifth inning to pad the lead. The home run was his third on the season. Charlie Clark and Systo each had two hits and Clark scored twice. Bell, McClelland, Lucas Lamorder, and Zach Corbeil each added hits. The Pirates got a strong start from Sam Bogart on the mound. He struck out 6 over three innings and held the A's scoreless until the third. Aliza Speno (SS) and Sam Madow (3B) provided solid defense. Damien Fontaine relieved for the Pirates and struck out four while showing strong command of the strike zone.
