Sat 15 Jul 1:00PMBrattleboro at Barre10-7Elliot's Late Heroics Pushes Brattleboro to Game One VictorySS Karson Elliot starred for Brattleboro in game one of the 11 year old state tournament held at the Brattleboro Little League Field. Elliot had two hits in the late innings including a go-ahead two-out, two-run double in the sixth inning. His defense was stellar as he speared several well-struck balls in highlight reel plays. C Nick Gerard went 3-3 and played a solid backstop. LF Alex McClelland laced an RBI double in the third inning after RF Will Hill had singled. Hill scored two runs in the game. 2B Jett Emery also scored two runs while hitting in the second spot in the order. RHP Willem Thurber pitched into the fourth inning, RHP Jackson Emery relieved, and RH Brandon Weeks closed it out with a scoreless sixth inning. Barre was down 4-2 but rallied to take a 7-6 lead heading into the sixth inning. SS/RHP Brady Lewis had two hits and two runs scored. 1B Matthew Redmond went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored. Brattleboro advances to the winner's bracket and will take on Williston on Sunday, July 16 at 2PM. Barre will play an elimination game with Essex Junction at 11AM on July 16.
Sat 15 Jul 4:00PMWilliston at Essex Junction11-3Robinson Powers Williston to Winners' BracketIn the second game of the 11 year old state tournament, Williston scored eight runs in the first inning and won handily at the Brattleboro Little League Field. RHP Chris Robinson provided the big blow as he clobbered a two-run home run in the first inning. He would later add a single at the plate while throwing a complete game four-hitter and striking out nine batters on the mound. SS Steven Rickert had two hits and scored four runs. 1B Russell Willoughby went 2-4 with two runs scored. Essex Junction gave up the early runs but came back with three runs in the sixth inning. SS Lucas Mercier had two of Essex Junction's four hits. C Logan Smith, 1B/SS Nate Ducham, and 2B Elijah Jacobs scored the late runs. Williston advances to the winners' bracket and will take on Brattleboro. Essex Junction will play an elimination game versus Barre.
Sun 16 Jul 11:00AM Game 3Barre at Essex Junction6-4Barre Stays Alive Behind Parker and LewisBarre eliminated Essex Junction on Sunday, July 16 at the Brattleboro Little League Field. RHP Averill Parker threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts. He added an RBI double in the first inning as well. SS Brady Lewis added a late RBI triple which provided Barre with an insurance run. 3B Adam Croteau went 2-3 while playing strong defense. 2B Camden Burke had a hit and two runs scored from the leadoff spot. Essex Junction got strong pitching from RHP Lucas Mercier and RHP Landon Smith. Mercier also had two extra-base hits and two RBI. RF David Angus had two hits. Barre will advance in the tournament to play Brattleboro on Friday, July 21 in an elimination game.
Sun 16 Jul 2:00PM Game 4Brattleboro at Williston1-5Rickert Throws a Gem for WillistonRHP Stephen Rickert threw five innings and struck out 12 Brattleboro batters on Sunday, July 16 in the winners' bracket game. Rickert mixed offspeed pitches with his fastball to keep the Brattleboro batters guessing. Rickert also went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI. C Zachary LeCours had two hits and a run scored. SS Russell Willoughby had a hit, scored a run, and played steady defense for this well-balanced team. Brattleboro struggled to hit Rickert in this one but they broke through in the fifth inning when 3B Jackson Emery walked, SS Karson Elliot doubled and CF Will Hill hit an RBI single for Brattleboro's lone run. Hill also made the defensive play of the game as he ranged far to his left to spear a hard hit liner. LF Alex McClelland, 1B/3B Willem Thurber, and RHP/1B Degan Gundry added singles. Williston advances to Saturday's championship game while Brattleboro will take on Barre on Friday night in a play-in game.
Fri 21 Jul 5:30PM Game 5Barre at Brattleboro6-5Barre Overcomes HR's to AdvanceThe Barre 11's battled back after Brattleboro hit back-to-back homers to win and advance in the state championship. Brattleboro C Nick Gerard hit a two-run home run in the first inning that scored 2B Jett Emery. 1B Degan Gundry followed that up with a solo shot of his own. Barre would come back in the third inning with four runs on four hits. 2B Camden Burke worked a one-out walk to begin the inning. After another out, SS Brady Lewis, P Averill Parker, 3B Alec Croteau, and 1B Matthew Redmond followed with consecutive run-scoring singles. Parker would finish with two hits and pitched into the sixth inning to earn the win. For Brattleboro, RHP Brandon Weeks threw very well and had a base hit. CF Will Hill and LF Alex McClelland continued to produce as each got base hits. Barre advances to a duel with Williston on Saturday, July 22 at 1PM. The Williston team has yet to lose in the tournament and if they win once again, they will be the state champions. Barre can also take the crown but must win on Saturday versus Williston and a rematch against them on Sunday.
Sat 22 Jul 1:00PM Game 6Williston at Barre2-3Barre Stays Alive Behind Lewis' Stellar OutingBarre RHP Brady Lewis allowed just two runs while throwing a complete game and striking out five Williston batters. Williston RHP Stephen Rickert also threw extremely well but allowed three runs in the first inning. Barre scored all of their runs in that inning when leadoff hitter 2B Camden Burke singled, Brady got on base via an error, SS Averill Parker singled, and 3B Alex Croteau singled. Through the following five innings, Rickert allowed just one hit. Rickert struck out six over five innings. Williston's 1B Chris Robinson got them on the board in the second inning with a long solo home run to deep center field. Lewis gave up just three total hits - Rickert doubled then RF Emmett Saylor doubled and scored in the fifth inning. The two teams will play again for the championship on Sunday, July 23.
Sun 23 Jul Game 7Williston at Barre0-2Kelley Leads Barre to ChampionshipBarre LHP Logan Kelley threw a one-hit shutout to lead Barre to the 11's State Championship. In a pitchers' duel, Kelley matched up with Williston RHP Chris Robinson. Kelley struck out seven batters and allowed just a single to LF Aidan Morris. Robinson also threw extremely well while giving up just two runs. Barre scored both runs on aggressive base-running from SS Brady Lewis and C Jaymeson Locarno. RF Dominic Concessi hit an RBI sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the third inning. This was a game dominated by stellar pitching and gold glove defense. Williston SS Stephen Rickert made several acrobatic plays. 2B Mitchell Niarchos of Williston also excelled with the glove as he made several plays from his knees. For Barre, SS Brady Lewis showcased a strong arm and CF Gabe Hoar sealed the game with two diving catches to win the game. Barre advances to the regional tournament in Beverly, Massachusetts set to begin August 1.
