Tue 11 Jul 5:30PMBenningtonBrattleboro at Bennington9-0Evan's Tosses No-Hitter to Put Brattleboro Up 3-0Brattleboro RHP Tristan Evans fired a no-hitter on a tidy 70 pitches at Hogan Field in Bennington on July 11, 2017. His effort put Brattleboro up 3-0 in the seven game District 2 championship. Using a steady mix of fastballs and curveballs, Evans kept the Bennington batters off balance throughout the six inning affair. He walked just three hitters and the defense behind him did not commit an error. The leadoff hitter for Bennington, SS Carter Thompson, walked and advanced to third base in the first inning but that was as far as any Bennington hitter would make it. 3B Forrester Avard carried the Brattleboro offense with two hits including a two-out, two-run home run in the 5th inning to put the game out of reach. Avard also made key plays on the hardest hit balls by Bennington. C Turner Clews went 3-4 with two runs scored while catching Evans' gem. Brattleboro was able to score nine runs and seven of those came with two outs. In the second inning, RF Devin Speno had one those two-out hits, a two-run double.
